A Brief History of the Baseball Glove

Baseball has always been hailed as America's favorite pastime. Baseball gloves have been used for nearly as long as the game of baseball, there has been an integral part of sport. 

The first baseball gloves were used in the 1870s and are very different from the baseball gloves we use today. Before the late 1800s, the sport of baseball is much more robust than we are accustomed today, players are expected to catch or hit the ball without any protection. One can only imagine the wounds of this practice. 

The first baseball gloves were fairly simple compared to current standards. The basic idea was to create a glove that the pad and hand protection to the players and provide a cushion for catching the ball. Surprisingly, the first gloves were designed so the player can hit the ball on the ground and do not necessarily capture. History of the first baseball gloves were made from pieces of leather sewn together to hold the hand of a player. Not as filling, thick or advanced style-wise, early baseball gloves are exposed to many sports and baseball museums across the country. 

The first players to use baseball gloves were often mocked and taunted as "too soft" or "Sissi" because you do not want to take the ball with his bare hands. It is difficult to understand the power and the pleasure of biting the end of 19th century baseball gloves are a component used in the modern game. Ultimately, however, the use of baseball gloves became more accepted and a safety standard in the sport. 

The history of baseball gloves is a colored ball with a lot of progress in the comfort and security. The evolution of baseball gloves has helped to shape the game and many can not imagine the sport without them.
